What is Acne?

How does it happen?
Acne forms when pores are clogged with an oil called sebum, which causes surrounding hair follicles to swell up, creating blackheads, whiteheads, pimples, and deeper lumps such as cysts and nodules.
Who’s Affected?
Acne is very common, especially among teenagers, due to changes in hormone levels. It can also affect women when their hormones are changing — during pregnancy, before menstruation, and if they’re taking birth control pills.
